Maintenance of Leather Bags

• Leather is a natural product:

  A leather bag is made from high-quality, vegetable or semi-vegatable tanned leather. This leather is durable, strong and develops more character over time. Because leather is a natural material, color variations, small scratches and signs of use may appear. Exposure to light, moisture and daily use can make the leather darker or lighter. A good waterproofing spray helps protect the leather from moisture, dirt and daily wear. Always let a wet bag dry naturally and avoid direct sunlight, radiators and other heat sources.

• Cleaning leather:

  For daily care, wipe your leather bag with a soft, dry cloth. Remove stains by gently dabbing them with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid rubbing, as this can push dirt or grease deeper into the leather. For grease stains, use cornstarch or talcum powder: let it sit overnight and brush it off gently the next day.

• Conditioning and care:

  To keep the leather soft and strong, we recommend treating your bag 1 to 2 times per year with a neutral leather balm, leather wax or a small amount of leather grease. Always use products sparingly and test them first on an inconspicuous area to avoid unwanted color changes.

• What to avoid:

  Never use aggressive cleaning agents, chemicals or all-purpose cleaners on leather bags. These can damage the natural protective layer of the leather. We also advise against using petroleum jelly, as it can clog the pores of the leather and cause long-term damage.
